Roulette is a game where the player must predict which number out of 0 (and for American Roulette 00) to 36 the ball will land on the wheel.

When you predict the correct single number, your payout is 36 times, which means your payout ratio is as follows:

European Roulette

This kind of roulette game has numbers from 0 to 36, with a total of thirty seven numbers.

When you predict the correct single number, your payout is 36 times, which means your payout ratio is as follows:

�@Payout Ratio = 36/37=0.9730=97.30%

The house edge is calculated as below:

�@House Edge = 1/37=0.0270=2.70%

This means, you are more likely to win with European Roulette than American Roulette.

Roulette Strategies

There are many strategies out there for roulette, but these do not mean you can win for sure. By having a set method of betting, it is maybe a good way to bet with a clear mind without getting too emotional.

Roulette, like other casino games, have a house edge, which means by calculation, the casino wins over time. Therefore, when you are winning, you should determine when to stop playing. (I guess talking is much easier than doing...)

Learn the various betting methods and the payouts of each, to bet according to timing and feeling. The payouts for European and American Roulettes are generally the same.

Let's learn the different betting methods by looking at the diagram of an American Roulette table.

The payouts mean the amount you will receive in winnings, excluding your bet amount, which is returned to you when you win.

Inside Bets

• (A) Straight Up Payout: 35 times
  

  Betting on one number between 0 to 36 (in American Roulette, you also have a 00 you can bet on). Place the chip on top of the number, as in the diagram.

• (B) Split Bet Payout: 17 times
  

  Betting on two adjacent numbers. Place the chip on the line in between the numbers, as in the diagram which is betting on 3 and 6.

• (C) Street Bet Payout: 11 times
  

  Betting on three numbers in the same row (or street). Place the chip on the end of the row, as in the diagram which is betting on 10, 11, and 12.

• (D) Triple Bet Payout: 11 times
  

  Betting on the numbers of 00, 0, and 2. Place the chip on the corner of the three numbers, as in the diagram.

• (E) Corner Bet Payout: 8 times
  

  Betting on four adjacent numbers. Place the chip on the corner of the four numbers, as in the diagram which is betting on 5, 6, 8, and 9.
  

• (F) Five Bet (or Four Bet for European Roulette) Payout: 8 times
  

  Betting on the numbers of 00, 0, 1, 2, and 3 (00 is not included for European Roulette). The chip is placed on the corner of 0 and the end of the first row as in the diagram.

• (G) Line Bet Payout: 5 times
  

  Betting on six numbers in two adjacent rows. Place the chip on the corner of the end of the two rows, as in the diagram which is betting on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Outside Bets

• (a) Dozen Bet Payout: 2 times
  

  Betting on the following 12 numbers; "1st12" refers to 1-12, "2nd12" refers to 13-24, "3rd12" refers to 25-36. 00 and 0 is not included in these bets. Place the chips in the box labeled with the above names.

• (b) Red/Black Payout: 1 time
  

  Betting on either a red number or black number. Place the chips labeled "Red" or "Black".

• (c) Even/Odd Payout: 1 time
  

  Betting on either an even number or odd number. Place the chips labeled "Even" or "Odd".

• (d) Low/High Payout: 1 time
  

  Betting on either a low numbers (1 to 18) or high numbers (19 to 36). Place the chips labeled "1 to 18" or "19 to 36".

• (e) Column Bet Payout: 2 times
  

  Betting on the 12 numbers in a column. 00 and 0 are not included in this bet. Place the chips on the boxes at the end of each row labelled "2 to 1".
